One of my favorite things to do was to have my favorite family over for dinner. These are delightful people with kids the same age as our kids. At the end of the night, I feel like we went out to dinner because the conversation and overall atmosphere is fabulous to spend with these folks. We’ve strayed from having this family night with our friends. I think because I believed it needed to be some 5-course meal which takes time, energy and money. When my friend asked me, why don’t we have dinner together anymore, I didn’t have a good answer. So, I made an extra effort to invite them over this week and share a meal. I consciously picked the menu to be cheap and easy. This chicken, beans and rice meal cost ~ $10 and it fed 4 adults and 5 children. We also dipped into my box of wine that I had been pulling from for the last week. I only made a few dirty dishes and I served the meal in my Le Creuset. Easy peasy!
Don’t let time and cost be a factor in deciding how you spend time with your friends. Make a conscious effort to be social (and frugal)!
