Minimalist Cat Owner

We’ve had 2 cats for years.  I’ve always taken them to the vet one cat at a time because I’m not capable of juggling a cat, a baby, and a toddler.  Now that the kids are older, I have 2 “helpers” to take with me.  Driving across town twice doesn’t make sense, so this year I brought them both at the same time.  We have only had one cat carrier because I only needed one cat carrier.  We are annoyed by this carrier 364 days a year because it’s always in the way.  One day a year it’s needed for cat transport.  Otherwise, it’s in storage.

Since I dislike buying stuff to use once a year, the kids and I were very creative.  They helped me get cats gathered up, one in a cat carrier and one in a laundry basket with another laundry basket bungeed on top of it.

Safe and sound, ready for vaccinations

The great thing about this is not saving $30.  Though feel free to click the above link and buy one yourself. The best part is not storing it for 364 days before needing it again. Sure, the vet looked at me like I was crazy and I was slightly embarrassed when another customer said, “well, that’s one way to do it.” Overall, I’m thrilled with our ingenuity and involving the kids in the problem-solving process. I can’t wait to do it again next year.
